His family, especially his children, are asking for proof of life from their father, former Minister of Oil and Gas, Vincent de Paul Massassa, whom they have not heard from since his incarceration.

In an exclusive interview with the editorial team of Gabonactu.com, the Massassa children have decided to break their silence. They denounce “arbitrariness” and intend to appeal to international courts and human rights organizations regarding their father’s case.

The atmosphere is morose and the morale is significantly low among the children of Vincent de Paul Massassa, the former Minister of Oil under Ali Bongo Ondimba, who was transferred to the central prison of Libreville on September 22, 2023, after three (3) weeks of detention for a preliminary investigation at the General Directorate of Counterintelligence and Military Security (DGCISM), better known as B2.

The Massassa children say they have never been allowed to visit their father, nor have his lawyers or his wife. They now fear for the life of the former minister. This blackout raises the darkest questions. Is he still alive or not? If he is alive, in what state of health? Knowing that he is hypertensive and diabetic, subject to strict and chronic treatment.

According to persistent information in the possession of the family, the former head of the oil and gas sector in Gabon is reportedly undergoing numerous physical abuse and other forms of mental torture.

Since his incarceration, Vincent De Paul Massassa has never been allowed to receive and consume food from his biological family, saddened by this forced diet. The Massassa children also deplore the silence of the lawyers.

They are not even sure if their father is truly incarcerated at “without family”. They are appealing for the expediency of the judicial authorities and the respect of his rights as provided for in the international charter of human and citizen rights.

Arrested on September 2, 2023, Vincent De Paul Massassa is facing charges of illicit enrichment, money laundering, and embezzlement of public funds.
