Political leaders who are founding members of the Coalition of Republican Parties in Gabon (CPRG), outraged by the cavalier management of their structure by Gervais Oniane, current president of said political group, have announced in a scathing statement the “cancellation of the Constitutive Act” of the CPRG.
“The legally recognized political parties, founding members of the Coalition of Republican Parties in Gabon (CPRG), namely FDG, FGDCN, UFN, PRD, RPBG, PNR, and MPJG, decided yesterday, Thursday, March 7, 2024, to proceed with the outright cancellation of the Constitutive Act establishing the Coalition of Republican Parties in Gabon (CPRG), of which Mr. Gervais ONIANE is the current President,” said Ariel Eloi Iwangou, president of the PRD and spokesperson, in a press conference.
These politicians accuse Gervais Oniane of having taken “actions that are not only against the interests of the majority, but also against the goals that we have all set for ourselves, namely, to unite our forces and support the Transition in the name of the general interest.”
Among these actions, they mention “the premature and unilateral call for the candidacy of the Transition President, Head of State, Brigadier General Brice Clotaire OLIGUI NGUEMA, in the 2025 presidential election during his tour last January in Lambaréné, in the Moyen-Ogooué province.”
“There is also the lack of respect for the Charter governing the operation of the CPRG and thus concentrating all powers in himself,” he deplored.
President of the Union for the Republic (UPR), Gervais Ondiane, current High Representative of the President of the Transition, is accused of marginalizing other leaders of his disintegrating political group.
