The first ordinary session of the National Assembly of the Transition, known as the session of laws, opened on March 1st at the Palais Léon Mba in Libreville. In accordance with the new article 49 of the Transition Charter stipulating that “the first ordinary session of the Transition opens on the 1st working day of March and ends on the last working day of June,” the chamber president, Jean François Ndongou, opened the session, once again inviting the Prime Minister to take into account the essential expectations of the population.
As during the closure of the last session of last year, the President of the National Assembly drew the attention of Raymond Ndong Sima to certain essential expectations of the population. He specifically mentioned the regularization of the administrative situations of permanent public servants and the calculation and payment of their arrears, taking into account the situation of small-scale operators who work at night so that they can contribute to the country’s wealth creation effort, the completion of the recruitment process initiated in various sectorial ministerial departments, such as National Education and Health.
Access to clean water and electricity for all is also one of the essential points of these expectations, especially because, as he pointed out, “the sleep of the Gabonese people is greatly disturbed by numerous power outages.” “It is imperative to avoid tragedies like the one that has just been recorded in the commune of Tchibanga,” he stressed, recalling the death due to suffocation following a power outage.
Among these concerns of the population are the delivery of the bypass road of the Libreville airport, which should alleviate traffic for the residents of the Akanda district and surrounding populations, as well as the presentation of the architectural plan of Libreville 2 and its feasibility, as well as the feasibility study of the new national airline that have also been requested.
Furthermore, to the deputies, the President of the National Assembly reminded them that they have the absolute duty to continue the work momentum initiated during the inaugural session and to always prioritize the highest interests of the nation.
