Alongside other voices calling for the postponement of the Inclusive National Dialogue scheduled for April 2, PG 41 on Monday, March 18, requested the cancellation of the decree convening this meeting. Claiming to be excluded by the Transition authorities, the platform wishes for the establishment of an inclusive and sovereign ad hoc commission responsible for preparing the practical arrangements for the organization and the terms of reference for these meetings.

In a statement on Monday, March 18, PG 41 led by Louis Gaston Mayila said it is following the country’s current events. Claiming to be marginalized by the military authorities, the group ensures that these events do not leave them indifferent. It concerns in particular the holding of an Inclusive National Dialogue promised by the Transition president in the wake of his swearing-in on September 4. Some saw it as a glimmer of hope for the re-establishment of Gabon and faced with the publication of the schedule for this meeting, PG 41 “regret that the preparations are being done unilaterally by the government.”Â
For PG 41, the organization of a national dialogue aims to achieve a number of objectives, the main ones being to conduct constructive and inclusive consultations to create a national consensus on political issues; negotiate reforms or define the process for their implementation; trigger national reconciliation and a return to constitutional order. Believing that these objectives are far from being achieved in their current state, PG 41 suggests the cancellation of decree No. 0115/PT/PR/MRI of March 8, 2024 calling for the convocation and organization of the Inclusive National Dialogue.
“PG 41 requests the indefinite postponement of this dialogue, allowing the CTRI to establish an inclusive and sovereign ad hoc commission to prepare the practical arrangements for the organization and the terms of reference for these meetings,” said the spokesperson for PG 41. If this political party alliance assures the Transition authorities and the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) of its support, through the voice of Louis Gaston Mayila it believes that “we need to agree on an organization that takes into account a new framework.”
