As a prelude to the arrival of the Transition President in the province of Ogooué Ivindo, the Minister of Commerce, Marie-Paulette Parfaite Amouyeme Ollame-Divassa, exchanged over the weekend with the residents of this locality. The objective is to mobilize all the residents of this northeastern region of the country to give a warm welcome to the head of state from the 21st to the 23rd of March.

The Transition President, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, will be touring the province of Ogooué Ivindo from the 21st to the 23rd of March. In anticipation of this visit, the Minister of Commerce, Marie-Paulette Parfaite Amouyeme Ollame-Divassa, initiated a meeting on March 9, 2024, in Libreville with all the residents of the 6th province of Gabon to discuss this visit.

From this meeting, “what stands out is the willingness of the Ogivins (residents of the province of Ogooué-Ivindo) to accompany the President and give him a warm welcome, as we know how to do. What is interesting is that we have seen that all components of the province, be it dignitaries, senior officials, youth, and women, have responded positively to this call that we initiated, and it’s interesting because it truly reflects the participation of the Ogivins in the vision of the President,” said Marie-Paulette Parfaite Amouyeme Ollame-Divassa.

According to the Minister of Commerce in the Transition government and native of Ogooué Ivindo, following the discussions, the Ogivins addressed many other issues related to development problems. “But for now, what we retain is the preparation of these Ogivins to give a massive, warm welcome, and it was also a strong commitment to mobilize all our communities,” she added.

The President’s visit is a new beginning for the Ogivins who were feeling “desperate.” “I think now hope is rekindled. We know that the President is very pragmatic. What he says, he does. Everything that has been communicated to us aligns with the expectations of the Ogivins, and we are sure he will follow through,” said Christian Minko-Mi-Etoua, Transition Deputy and native of Ogooué-Ivindo.

During his 72-hour stay in Ogivine land, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema will visit the cities of Makokou, Ovan, and Booué. The communities would have liked to be visited as a whole. The Zadié department also expressed their desire to commune with their president. They pleaded with the government members for the president to come meet them.
