Minister of Agriculture in the ousted government at the end of August 2023, Charles Mve Ellah says he does not understand why all the criticisms of the state of the country are directed against the regime of Ali Bongo. He does not believe in the sudden “virginity” of yesterday’s opponents, who were however former close associates of Omar Bongo.

He has been outspoken on social network X (formerly Twitter) for some time now. This Friday, March 15, Charles Mve Ellah once again expressed his feelings about the new holders of power in Gabon. This time, he criticizes the opponents of Ali Bongo’s regime, most of whom now hold positions in the government, in the public administration, in Parliament, and in institutions. As Minister of Agriculture in the ousted government on August 30, 2023, he seems to recognize a part of responsibility in the current state of decay of the country.

All the indictments focus on Ali Bongo’s 14 years. What about Omar Bongo’s 42 years? ,” he asks before continuing: “Many of his companions who were in the opposition yesterday have resurfaced with important positions and a newfound innocence.”

The native of Bitam, who already supported in a tweet a dozen days earlier that “the truth exists [and that] only lies are invented” , urges not to “confuse men and a system” . According to him, several of his former comrades from the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG) who were once in opposition and are now alongside the military in power also have skeletons in their closets and should also take responsibility for the suffering expressed by the Gabonese people. For him, only the ousted president, who spent less than 15 years in power, cannot be held accountable for the underdevelopment that the country has been experiencing for several decades.
