Excluded from the Inclusive National Dialogue (IND) taking place in Libreville from April 2 to April 30, 2024, the Coordination of Associations and Political Parties of the Gabonese Opposition in Europe for Change and Democratic Alternation (CAPPO) has decided to make known to the Gabonese nation its contribution to the construction and development of Gabon through the media so that “no one is unaware that our organization is truly guided by a patriotism without ulterior motives,” according to its leaders.

Gabonese people,

On October 2, 2023, the Gabonese Transitional Prime Minister issued a call for contributions in the context of organizing the Inclusive National Dialogue advocated by the President of the Transition, General Brigadier Brice Clotaire OLIGUI NGUEMA.

More than 37,000 more or less serious or substantive contributions were received by the department responsible for centralizing contributions. However, it is clear that no filter was put in place by the Prime Minister’s office to assess the quality and relevance of the contributions in order to extract the best ones.

It is noted, however, that the Prime Minister’s office had to resort to criteria other than the quality of the contributions solicited in order to determine the panel of invitees to the Gabonese national dialogue in April 2024.

It can be regretted that among these replacement criteria, alongside the understandable criterion of the representativeness of the various actors in Gabonese public life, including the hundred or so more or less fictitious Gabonese political parties, are other less honorable criteria such as clientelism, cronyism, political superficiality of “influencers,” and social networks, etc.

To allow the national and international public to appreciate for themselves the quality of the substantial contribution of CAPPO, albeit not invited to the national dialogue, we urgently request all persons who are in favor of good governance and the culture of excellence for Gabon to please take note of the attached text in the appendix of this press release, containing CAPPO’s contribution to the April 2024 national dialogue, dated November 2023. We wish them a good and enjoyable read.

In conclusion, despite the regrettable imperfections in the choice of participants in the Gabonese national dialogue, we strongly hope that at the end of its work, the essential proposals of CAPPO will be adopted and implemented, so that the popular hope for change sparked by the peaceful revolution of August 30, 2023 finally results in a real change in the lives of all Gabonese, a refoundation of the Gabonese state and institutions, for the benefit of genuine good governance favorable to the well-being of all Gabonese, in accordance with the ancient African concept of Maât as recalled in the attached appendix.

Done in Paris, March 29, 2024

The President of CAPPO, M Jean – Pierre ESSONO MENIE, the Vice President of CAPPO in charge of general coordination, M Jean Jules MIKALA – NZIENGUI
