The president of the Les Démocrates (LD) party, Guy Nzouba Ndama, in his political return speech delivered on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at his party headquarters in Libreville, made it clear to his many supporters that the new fight of his political party is to combat the gravediggers of the transition.

“From now on, we will fight against the enemies of the Transition”, said Mr. Nzouba Ndama, who resumed his political activities after nearly a year of absence, due to being under house arrest for legal issues.

Legal affairs related to his dramatic arrest on September 17, 2022 at the Kabala border post near Lekoni in the Haut Ogooué province (southeast Gabon) with a sum of 1 billion 190 million CFA francs that he was carrying in suitcases, returning from Congo-Brazzaville.

At the time, a fierce opponent of the regime of Ali Bongo, Guy Nzouba Ndama had declared to the judicial authorities that this money came from the sale of his real estate property that he owned on the seafront in Pointe Noire, the economic capital of Congo.

Before the courts in Franceville and Libreville, the man had brandished a copy of the land title transferred along with the deed of sale. However, he had been found guilty of “illegal possession of prohibited goods.” After a legal saga, the case is now in front of the Court of Cassation. The politician says he is confident that justice will finally be served. On September 5th, he had his house arrest lifted.

For Guy Nzouba Ndama, the fight against the enemies of the transition is necessary “so that the new authorities, in their just will to involve all Gabonese people in the vast project of restoring our institutions, refrain from succumbing to the demonic charm of those who, just a few months ago, were supporting the desire to perpetuate the fallen power”.
