Ismaël Sylvain Agnagano, the owner of two companies including a private security company, has been arrested since February 24 in Bangui, Central African Republic, and is being held in custody in a police station under harsh detention conditions, as reported by Gabonactu.com from his family who is saddened by this bad news.
“He has been placed in isolation,” said his father, Julien Agnagano, speaking to the editorial staff of Gabonactu.com.
Before being placed in isolation, the Gabonese businessman was filmed by people who arrived in his cell wearing yellow uniforms.
The defendant, his lawyer, and his family do not know the reasons for the incarceration of Ismaël Sylvain Agnagano.
Unofficial sources in the Central African Republic claim that the Gabonese businessman is being pursued for espionage. He allegedly recorded several high-ranking Central African officials, including close associates of the president of the country, Faustin Archanges Touadera.
Furthermore, Central Africans accuse the Gabonese man of having usurped Central African nationality and fraudulently obtained a Central African passport.
His father denounces a blatant lie. His son holds a Gabonese passport valid until 2026 and a residency card for Central Africa valid until July 2024.
“How can a citizen have both an up-to-date residency card and a passport from the same country,” questioned Mr. Agnagano, also denouncing a fake passport issued just to incriminate his son.
A few months ago, the Gabonese businessman won an international tender to provide security for the premises and personnel of CEMAC. It is likely this lucrative contract that has landed him in trouble in this neighboring country of Gabon, according to his relatives.
As the president of the Gabonese community in Bangui, Ismaël Sylvain Agnagano has been living in this country for nearly 8 years. His second company specializes in auditing. He employs a total of 121 Central Africans.
The father of the Gabonese businessman pleads with Presidents Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma (Gabon) and Faustin Archanges Touadera (Central African Republic) to help his son get out of this dangerous situation.
