The Confederation of the Multi-Continental Gabonese Diaspora – G10 – marked a decisive turning point in its commitment to Gabon with its second mission from February 5 to 16, 2024. Between official registration, locating a headquarters in Libreville, and presenting the “SA Agricultural Village” project, this initiative illustrates the significant contribution of the diaspora to the country’s economic development and food self-sufficiency.

Continuing its momentum in wanting to be an economic player in Gabon, the Confederation of the Multi-Continental Gabonese Diaspora – G10 carried out a second mission to Gabon from February 5 to 16, 2024.

Nine members, including Mrs. Marcelle Mfoumou Nzé (absent from the photo), accompanied Mrs. Ngomo Marie-Josée ep. Klutsch, the general coordinator of the confederation. It should be noted that the first mission took place in early December 2023 with the aim of introducing this federative, unprecedented, non-profit diasporic association to the Gabonese people. This presentation was made during a press conference widely covered by the media. The Confederation, created on September 15, 2023, aims to bring together all Gabonese in the diaspora who wish to be a force for reflection, proposals, and actions for Gabon’s development. The Confederation is growing gradually and currently has more than 800 members with diverse expertise.

The objectives of this second mission were to register this unique confederative association with the Ministry of the Interior, find a headquarters in Libreville, and present the first project of the confederation named “SA Agricultural Village,” fully funded by members of the Multi-Continental Gabonese Diaspora Confederation-G10 (CDGMC-G10).

The ambitions of the CDGMC-G10 are in line with what a diaspora that wants to be a development player desires: bringing in skills, financial strength, international cooperation, and visibility. To achieve this, it presents the following strengths: a multi-continental organization, better representation of the Gabonese diaspora, increased visibility of diaspora actions, functioning in a horizontal manner without hierarchy but with individual responsibilities, and the motivation and determination of its members to unite, reflect, and act for Gabon’s prosperity.

During this second mission, the members of the confederation met with Mrs. Zita Oligui Nguema, the First Lady, and her advisers; Mr. Owondault Berre Joseph, Vice-President of the Transition and now a patron and supporter of the confederation; Mr. Hermann Immongault, Minister of the Interior; Mr. Jean Rémi Maganga Nzamba, Director of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gabonese Living Abroad; Mr. Sidoine Akoubou, Director of the Minister of Agriculture’s Cabinet, and technical advisers including Mr. Jean Robert Mezui M’Obame, ZAP technical adviser.

These exchanges, which were very fruitful, bode well for promising future collaborations.

Two TV appearances by Mrs. Ngomo, one on Gabon 24 and one on Gabon 1st, informed the Gabonese population of the organization’s progress.

The mission concluded with a press conference on February 15, 2024, at the Georges Rawiri house in front of a group of journalists, which allowed the presentation of the confederation’s first project: “The SA Agricultural Village.” The Village Agricultural Society is an agricultural business project, the first of the confederation. It is a joint-stock company with a board of directors, with all shareholders being members of the CDGMC-G10. The headquarters will be located in Libreville, Gabon. The launch of activities is scheduled for April 2024. The main objective of this project is to contribute to Gabon’s journey towards food self-sufficiency. According to the Ministry of Agriculture data, Gabon imports food products worth 400 billion XAF, with a significant share for rice (120,000 tonnes/year) and meat products (beef, chicken, pork, etc.). This food dependence is very detrimental to our country both economically and in terms of sovereignty and food security.

The mission, which ended on February 16, 2024, allowed the finding of a headquarters, the registration of the confederation with the issuance of a provisional receipt that will lead to the rapid implementation of projects by the Multi-Continental Gabonese Diaspora Confederation-G10.
