The Democratic and Republican Alliance (Adere) has kicked off its political return with determination during a seminar focused on capacity building and identifying challenges to overcome. Under the leadership of its executive president, Armelle Doumalewa Yembi Yembi, the party emphasized the need for internal consolidation in order to better serve the aspirations of the Gabonese nation.
The political party Democratic and Republican Alliance (Adere) organized an information and capacity-building seminar on February 17 for its members and supporters from various provinces of the country. During a half-day session, members of the party exchanged ideas about the history, identity, and role of the Adere, which was founded in 1993. This was an opportunity for its executive president, Armelle Doumalewa Yembi Yembi, to emphasize the duties and challenges of the Adere in the process of change in Gabon.
At the heart of this approach is the mobilization of Adere members. The party’s executive president, Armelle Doumalewa Yembi Yembi, highlighted in her opening speech the need to put an end to “the long and painful experience of the various injustices imposed by the former political power from 1968 to August 30, 2023”. She called on political parties, social forces of change, and citizens to fulfill their duties to Gabonese society, which is seeking “political, economic, social, and cultural changes”.
For the Adere, these duties boil down to three essential points: the awareness of the obligation to function well as a political organization; the assimilation of the need to continue to develop a political offer adapted to national and international realities; and the understanding of how these complexities combine to improve the party’s operating mechanisms.
Despite noticeable qualitative progress, the assessment of weaknesses that hinder the Adere’s action was not overlooked. According to the party’s executive president, these deficiencies include the weakness of the number of members, insufficient collection of contributions, inadequate participation of executives in the party’s activities, incomplete political offer in terms of political and/or government projects, and insufficient party presence in Libreville and the interior of the country.
In the face of these challenges, the party’s executive president urged militants and supporters to mobilize so that the Adere does not play a minor role, but rather plays a major role in the national reconstruction of present and future Gabon. “During these discussions, our sympathizers, base militants, and executives will have the opportunity to individually embrace the profound meaning of our collective political mission, as well as collectively formulate recommendations, at a time when Africa is beginning a new political takeoff,” she assured.
The discussions between members, supporters, and executives led to concrete recommendations to consolidate Adere’s position in the evolving Gabonese political landscape. Under the enlightened leadership of its executive president, the party positions itself as a major player in the construction of a prosperous and equitable Gabon, ready to face the challenges of the present and seize the opportunities of the future.
