Activist Marceau Malekou was appointed on Wednesday as a research officer for Deputy Prime Minister Alexandre Barro Chambrier, according to the final communique of the council of ministers chaired by General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma.
Marceau Malekou becomes a research officer at the Ministry of Planning and Prospective. He was a former opposition activist, close to the Heritage and Modernity Movement (H&M), founded by Mr. Chambrier and a group of former deputies.
On January 18, 2017, Marceau Malekou was arrested in Nkembo (2nd district of Libreville) where he and three other friends briefly expressed their opposition to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations that Gabon was hosting.
