Ismaël Sylvain Agnagano, the head of two companies including a private security company, has been arrested since February 24 in Bangui, Central African Republic, and is being held in a police station, as reported by Gabonactu.com to his family who are distraught by this bad news.
According to his father, Julien Agnagano, his son is being held in deplorable conditions in a police station in the capital without any reason being given.
Isaël Sylvain Agnagano’s lawyer in the Central African Republic also claims to be unaware of the case, which is still under investigation.
For the past week, the Gabonese businessman has been allowed to have a phone. He tells his father from his place of detention that he is being harassed and pressured to hand over his security company to a Central African.
Several sources have told Gabonactu.com that the private security market is dominated by close associates of the Bangui government.
A few months ago, the Gabonese businessman won an international tender to provide security for the premises and staff of the CEMAC. It is certainly this lucrative contract that is causing him trouble in this sister country of Gabon, according to his relatives.
As the president of the Gabonese community in Bangui, Ismaël Sylvain Agnagano has been living in this country for nearly 8 months. His second company specializes in auditing. He employs a total of 121 Central Africans.
Disappointed by the lack of action from the Gabonese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this matter, the father of the Gabonese businessman is pleading with Presidents Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma (Gabon) and Faustin Archanges Touadera (Central African Republic) to help his son get out of this prison.
