Kevin Kinyanjui Kang’ethe, a fugitive murder suspect, made a bold escape from lawful custody, leaving authorities scrambling to track down his whereabouts. In an effort to uncover how Kang’ethe managed to escape, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested his brother and his brother’s girlfriend for questioning.

According to police sources, the two individuals were interrogated about their knowledge of Kang’ethe’s escape. Additionally, Beatrice Ng’ethe, a lawyer who is related to Kang’ethe, was also brought in for questioning after being nabbed by DCI officers. She spent considerable time at Muthaiga Police Station assisting with the investigation. Ng’ethe was released after paying a cash bail of Sh100,000, but she remains a person of interest in the case as evidence suggested she had been in constant communication with the fugitive. It was also revealed that she had met with Kang’ethe the day before his escape as he sought legal advice.

Despite the mounting evidence, Ms Ng’ethe denied any knowledge of Kang’ethe’s plan to escape. However, it has since come to light that Kang’ethe managed to meet with his brother after fleeing custody. Kang’ethe was initially held at Muthaiga Police Station while awaiting extradition to the US, where he is wanted for the murder of Margaret Mbitu. The US authorities have already issued a warrant for his arrest, adding urgency to the efforts to locate and apprehend him.

Last week, the 40-year-old Kang’ethe made a daring escape from Muthaiga Police Station, leaving law enforcement agencies in a race against time to capture him before he potentially flees the country. The investigation into his escape has widened to include his network of contacts and confidants, including his family members and legal representatives.

The authorities are working tirelessly to piece together the events leading up to Kang’ethe’s escape, with the hope of preventing further flight and ensuring that he faces justice for the serious charges against him. As the search intensifies, the police are urging anyone with information regarding Kang’ethe’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in the effort to bring him to justice.
