Four members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in a move that underscores shifting political alignments within Nigeria’s lower legislative chamber.

The lawmakers involved are Sani Adamu Wakil, representing Minjibir/Ungogo; Umar Mukhtar Zakari, representing Tarauni; Yusuf Umar Datti, representing Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam; and Abdulhakeem Kamilo Ado, representing Wudil/Garko Federal Constituency.

Speaking on their decision, the lawmakers cited persistent internal crises within the NNPP as a major factor behind their defection.
