21st Century Technologies, an information and communication technology (ICT) company, is aligning with the United States’ goal to promote innovation and nurture a digital ecosystem in Nigeria. The U.S. recently unveiled a tech and creative space called ‘America Corner’ at 21st Century’s corporate headquarters in Lagos, marking it as one of the 245 centers where the U.S. has established American Corners since 2000. The center was officially opened by U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, in the presence of 21st Century Technologies’ Chief Executive Officer, Wale Ajisebutu.

Antony Blinken emphasized that America Corner, which now exists in approximately 60 countries, aims to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity among young people. The partnership with 21st Century Technologies is intentional and in line with the U.S.’s efforts to advance technology and creativity among Nigerian youths. 21st Century Technologies is known for being the first in Nigeria to deploy the fiber optics network in 1997 and to pioneer Nigeria’s data center infrastructure, which has significantly influenced the country’s digital landscape.

Blinken expressed his support for the partnership, stating, “I see this playing out in so many places now as we work together to meet shared challenges that no single one of us can effectively meet alone, and the bottom line is to deliver results to our people.”

American Corner offers resources and facilities including a digital studio, workshops, multimedia, and tech equipment, which are freely available for young Nigerians to explore their creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and interests. The establishment of America Corner at 21st Century Technologies demonstrates the commitment of both the U.S. and the company to foster innovation and technology in Nigeria.
