The West Africa Telecoms Summit and Exhibition (WATISE) successfully hosted its first edition, bringing together key players and stakeholders in the telecommunications industry. Building on this success, the organisers, TechnologyMirror, are now gearing up for the second edition, WATISE 2.0. The event is set to take place in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, with a focus on shaping the future of the telecoms infrastructure industry and providing insights for a digital economy.
Scheduled for April 18th at the prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel, WATISE 2.0 will delve into critical topics such as the challenges of funding for the industry, especially in terms of rural telephony, and the need for deploying green energy solutions to address the power generation crisis. The theme for this edition is “Shaping the Future of the Telecoms Infrastructure Industry: Trends and Insights for a Digital Economy.”
The event will feature a lineup of distinguished speakers and industry leaders, including Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), who will deliver the keynote address. Gbenga Adebayo, the Chairman of the Association Licensed Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ALTON), will also present a major paper at the summit. WATISE 2.0 has received endorsements from ALTON and has ICTLOCA, Nigeria’s local content advocacy group, as its technical partner.
The agenda for WATISE 2.0 includes three-panel discussion sessions focusing on key areas such as Enhancing Rural Connectivity, Strategies for Expanding Telecom Infrastructure, The Big Data Issues, Digital Economy and Infrastructure Funding Challenges in the Telecoms Industry, and Trends, Insights, and Solutions in Business Automation & Quest for Green Infrastructure.
