Addis Abeba– The House of People’s Representatives appointed Berhanu Adelo as the Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) on 30 January 2025, filling the position left vacant since Daniel Bekele (PhD) stepped down in July 2024.
Berhanu, who was born in Bonga, Kefa Zone, Southwest Ethiopia Regional State, has held various governmental positions throughout his career. He served as Minister for Cabinet Affairs and a top adviser to Prime Minister Meles Zenawi for six years.
