A reconciliation committee has been established with the aim of resolving the longstanding disputes in the border areas between the Somali and Afar regional states. The conflict between communities in these regions has led to numerous casualties and extensive property damage over the years. To address this issue, the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council has stepped in as a mediator to facilitate a reconciliation process that seeks to foster cooperation and create a brighter future for the affected communities.
The formation of a joint committee, comprising representatives from both regions and independent entities, has been a collaborative effort to oversee the progress of reconciliation efforts. The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council will take on the responsibility of supervising this joint committee.
