On March 4, 2024, a workshop focusing on the oral poetry of the Tigre language concluded successfully at the Asmara Palace Hotel. The event, which commenced on March 1, brought together representatives from various regions in the country for in-depth discussions aimed at enhancing a comprehensive 600-page research book on the subject.

The discussions encompassed different aspects of Tigre oral poetry, such as writing styles, content, and other relevant topics related to the language, history, and poetry itself. Participants provided valuable insights and suggestions, enriching the research endeavor.

Ambassador Zemede Tekle, Commissioner of Culture and Sports, underscored the importance of the workshop and the research book in the preservation of Tigre oral tradition. He emphasized its role in transmitting this cultural legacy to future generations and serving as a valuable resource for further research. Ambassador Tekle also expressed hope that the success of this workshop would inspire other ethnic groups in the country to organize similar initiatives.

The main objective of the workshop was to finalize the research book, which delves into the lifestyle, nationalism, heroism, ethics, and work ethic of the Tigre ethnic community, showcasing the cultural richness of the Tigre language and its oral traditions.
