Eritrea: Regular meeting of Southern Red Sea Region Assembly

Assab, 02 March 2024- The 20th regular meeting of the Southern Red Sea Region Assembly took place on 28 and 21 February in Assab. Attendees included department heads, sub-zonal administrators, ministry heads, and national association representatives.

Chairman Mr. Ali Nur praised the progress made in implementing resolutions from the previous year’s meeting and encouraged continued dedication to the 2024 programs. Reports were presented on agriculture, marine resources, education, water supply, and cultural and sports activities, highlighting achievements and challenges in each area.

Community involvement was significant in initiatives such as water conservation, maternity waiting rooms, classrooms, healthcare facilities, livestock vaccination, and vocational training for fishermen and farmers. The Assembly discussed the reports and adopted recommendations.

Governor Ambassador Mohammed-Seid Mantai outlined the development programs for 2024 and urged Assembly members to motivate the public in implementing the programs.
