Eritrea: President Isaias met and held talks with Chinese Envoy – Africa Links 24

On April 7, 2024, President Isaias Afwerki met with Ambassador Xue Bing, Special Envoy of China to the Horn of Africa, at the Denden Guest House. They discussed the progress of Eritrea-China strategic ties, as well as regional and international issues of mutual importance.

President Isaias stressed the significance of bilateral and regional forums in achieving tangible results for peace and stability. He also announced Eritrea’s participation in the upcoming Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit in Beijing in September.

The President highlighted the importance of regional peace in the Horn of Africa, Red Sea, Nile Basin, and Arabian Gulf, while condemning Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Ambassador Xue Bing acknowledged Eritrea’s independence and its non-aligned foreign policy. He recognized Eritrea’s crucial role in promoting peace in the Horn of Africa.

Having previously visited Eritrea in December 2023, Ambassador Xue Bing expressed his expectation for the two countries to strengthen their historical and strategic ties to combat hegemony and domination mindsets.
