Eritrea: Nationals in Various Countries Celebrate International Women’s Day – Africa Links 24

On 12th March 2024, Eritrean nationals residing in various countries celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme “Equality: Our Core Principle”.

In the UK cities of London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester City, Middleborough, Coventry, Sheffield, Leeds, Cardiff, Newcastle, Liverpool, Glasgow, Brighton, and Manchester, colorful celebrations took place featuring cultural and artistic programs.

During the event in London, Ms. Nardos Michael, head of the UK branch of the National Union of Eritrean Women, delivered a statement on behalf of the union. Mr. Saleh Abdella, Charge d’Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy, praised the contribution and participation of Eritrean women in the UK in national affairs and emphasized the need to strengthen organizational capacity.

In Doha, Qatar, nationals also marked International Women’s Day with patriotic fervor. The event included the inauguration of the Eritrean cultural center and the new office of the National Union of Eritrean Women.

Similar celebrations were held in Vienna, Austria, the Republic of South Sudan, Kuwait, South Africa, and various cities in the US, all under the theme “Equality: Our Core Principle”.
