Asmara, March 10, 2024 – Eritrean nationals residing in different countries celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm, focusing on the theme of “Equality: Our Core Principle.”

In Riyadh and its surrounding areas, Ms. Elsa Kidane, head of the union branch, and Mr. Abdurahman Imam, chairman of the Eritrean community, delivered speeches highlighting the crucial role of Eritrean women throughout Eritrea’s history.

Ms. Weini Gerezghier, Charge d’Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy, emphasized the sacrifices made by Eritrean women and stressed the importance of passing down their remarkable history to the younger generation.

The celebration featured photo and material exhibitions, as well as cultural and artistic performances by youth and students from the International School of Eritrea.

Similarly, Eritrean nationals in Dammam, Jeddah, and surrounding areas celebrated International Women’s Day with patriotic fervor, organizing various programs to honor the significance of the day.

At the Eritrean Embassy in Ethiopia, members joyously celebrated International Women’s Day, with Ms. Azieb Aman delivering a statement on behalf of the National Union of Eritrean Women, emphasizing the need for organizational capacity strengthening and active participation in national affairs.

In Egypt, the National Union of Eritrean Women branch also celebrated International Women’s Day under the theme of “Equality: Our Core Principle.”

Mr. Fasil Gebreselasie delivered a speech focusing on the essential role of Eritrean women in national affairs.
