The inaugural Acropolis Gardens and Residence Golf Course in Okija, Anambra State saw Nigeria’s top player, Francis Epe, put on a brilliant performance by setting a course record of 12 under par, 60. The event brought together over 80 professional and amateur players from across West Africa on the nine-hole facility, making for a competitive and exciting tournament.

Epe showcased his exceptional skills throughout the tournament, avoiding sand traps and water hazards while recording an impressive 12 birdies and six pars. His bogey-free round was a testament to his talent and determination to come out on top. His record-setting score of 12 under par placed him four shots ahead of Gift Willy, who finished as the runner-up with an impressive eight under par 64. Chukwudi Okoro from Benin Golf Club secured the third position with a score of 67.

In the ladies’ category, Nkechi Nwaokolo emerged victorious with a net score of 76, beating Rita Izojie by two strokes. Nkechi Musa-Tolani took the third prize with a net score of 79 in 18 holes. The competition showcased the talent and dedication of players from various backgrounds and skill levels.

Promoter of the Acropolis Gardens and Residence Golf Course, Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, expressed his goal of reintroducing Okija to the world through projects like the golf course.
