English: RCA: PAM supports the government in implementing school canteens.

The Central African authorities and WFP officials are organizing for the implementation of the School Meals program.

In this context, the Central African President, Faustin Archange Touadéra, granted an audience on April 11, 2024, to a delegation from the World Food Programme (WFP), led by Margot Van der Velden, WFP Regional Director for West and Central Africa.

Margot Van der Velden stated after the audience that discussions with the President focused on the implementation of the School Meals program and WFP has been selected as a preferred partner to support the government.

For her, distributing local food to children addresses issues of children’s education, their nutritional health, and also serves as a means of supporting the integrated economy based on local production.

She also emphasized that the discussions focused on the number of children to reach in order to mobilize technical and financial partners around this program.
