In Benin, the Eid al-Fitr celebration, marking the end of the month of Ramadan, is scheduled for Wednesday, April 10, 2024. This long-awaited announcement by the Muslim community was made by the president of the Islamic Union.

In a statement released on Monday, April 8, 2024, the Islamic Union of Benin announced to the Muslim community that the Eid al-Fitr celebration, marking the end of the month of Ramadan, will take place on Wednesday, April 10. This decision was made due to the impossibility of observing the moon during the “Night of Doubt” on Monday, April 8, 2024. Thus, Tuesday, April 10, will mark the thirtieth and final day of Ramadan according to the lunar calendar.

It is important to note that this date is in accordance with prophetic teachings, as indicated by the following prescription: “And if the clouds prevent you from seeing it (the crescent moon), then complete the number of days of fasting to 30.”

This announcement is therefore a source of joy for the Muslim community, who are preparing to celebrate the end of the Ramadan fast on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
