Electrification initiated in the Abdoul Services Saaba 2 city: Residents thank the Burkinabe authorities
Ouagadougou, March 10, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – Residents of the Abdoul Services Saaba 2 city warmly thanked the Burkinabe authorities yesterday, Saturday, particularly Minister Bassolma Bazié, for his involvement in launching the electrification of their living environment.
Members of the Solidarity Residents Association of the Abdoul Services Saaba 2 city celebrated the values of unity, cohesion, and sharing during their community day yesterday, Saturday.
The meeting mainly served as the launching platform for the long-awaited electrification of the area.
The Burkinabe National Electricity Company (SONABEL) has delegated the project to a private company named PPI. According to SONABEL’s representative, Abou Ouattara, the project is expected to be completed within eight months.
He assured that there would be enough power for each household to have its own meter.
“Before, we were in an improved informal settlement, now we can say that we are in a city,” rejoiced the Secretary-General of the Solidarity Residents, Mady Sawadogo.
He hopes to forget the time when residents had to spend the night elsewhere if they did not return before 6 p.m., out of fear of being attacked.
The President of the Association, Yssouf Ouédraogo, thanked all those who have been involved for years to make the project successful.
He particularly expressed the residents’ gratitude to the Minister of State in charge of the civil service, Bassolma Bazié, who, in his opinion, allowed the project to move forward when the doors were closing in front of the association.
The Minister’s representative, Pama Séni, promised to visit the project regularly and report back to the authority.
In the meantime, Mr. Séni urged members of the association to remain united, which he believes is a guarantee of success in all projects they undertake.
Traditional chiefs and local dignitaries blessed the project and wished for continuous improvement in the living conditions of residents and natives.
In this regard, the Solidarity Residents Association of the Abdoul Services Saaba 2 city submitted a memorandum to the authorities present.
It highlights the need for road, educational, health, and sanitation infrastructure. The construction of a police station, enhanced patrols, and the swift issuance of documents attesting to the legality of their land properties are also part of their demands, not to mention social infrastructure such as a library, a sports field, and green and leisure spaces.
The Prefect-President of the special delegation of Saaba, Kassoum Kaboré, said he took note of these requests.
Already, he announced that a Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) should be inaugurated in the coming days to strengthen the health services in the city.
To conclude, the Solidarity Residents Association of the Abdoul Services Saaba 2 city awarded certificates of recognition to all those who work daily to improve their living conditions and strengthen social cohesion within the city.
