The power outage in households in Conakry concerns the Prime Minister. At the conclusion of the comprehensive review of the active portfolios of public investment projects on Friday, April 5, 2024, the head of government placed particular emphasis on this issue.
Prime Minister Bah Oury promises to get involved and commit to taking practical actions in response to the crisis.
“We are seeking ways and means to improve or maintain electricity supply. We will engage in practical actions to significantly reverse a system that has persisted for decades, where the electricity sector was the only one to benefit from all the country’s funding,” says Bah Oury.
It should be noted that the company responsible for electricity distribution in Guinea (EDG) justifies the power outages due to the lack of water in the Kaleta and Souapiti dams. This, according to them, will worsen until the rainy season.
