Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly presided over a significant event at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital on Monday. The ceremony marked the signing of a cooperation protocol aimed at bolstering governance in Egypt’s healthcare sector. Among the attendees were the Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala al-Saeed.
The protocol was signed by key figures such as Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Governance and Technical Affairs, Dr. Mohamed al-Tayeb, Executive Director of the National Institute for Sustainable Development Governance, Sherifa Sherif, and Medical Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office and Secretary-General of the Medical Affairs at the Cabinet, Hossam al-Masry.
The protocol delineates the scope of collaboration between the three entities, focusing on supporting human development processes for healthcare workers. The National Institute for Sustainable Development Governance will spearhead activities related to capacity building, offer consultancy services, and advocate for governance concepts in alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Strategy.
Dr. Mohamed al-Tayeb underscored the Ministry of Health and Population’s expertise in conducting capacity-building activities for healthcare professionals. He emphasized the ministry’s emphasis on harnessing skilled human resources and training to boost the sector’s performance. Furthermore, he expressed the ministry’s commitment to enhancing the skills of healthcare workers.
Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Sustainable Development Governance, highlighted the institute’s pivotal role in instilling governance principles, providing training for workers in various sectors, and equipping employees with the tools to manage resources effectively. The institute’s aim is to promote good governance practices across both public and private entities.
Hossam al-Masry, Medical Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office, stressed the protocol’s significance in reinforcing the efforts of the Medical Affairs Secretariat. This entity oversees citizens’ healthcare concerns, ensures the provision of essential medical services, and coordinates interventions with relevant stakeholders such as ministries and civil society organizations.
In essence, the cooperation protocol signed during the ceremony marks a critical milestone in fortifying governance in Egypt’s healthcare sector.
