Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly recently visited the residential neighborhood project in Zaytuna area, which is a part of the ongoing development project known as the “Great Transfiguration” in Saint Catherine city. Accompanied by several ministers and officials, Madbouly toured the area and inspected a building in the residential neighborhood, which features fully furnished units designed to harmonize with the surrounding environment.

During the visit, the Minister of Housing presented the blueprint of the project, which aims to transform the site into a spiritual destination, taking advantage of the mountains in the sacred valley. The goal of the project is to create a global hub for spiritual and medical tourism. The Housing Ministry, in collaboration with the Central Agency For Reconstruction and with financing from the New Urban Communities Authority, is overseeing the project with a total budget of 10 billion pounds.

The residential neighborhood in Zaytuna is expected to be green, with plans to transition all public transport vehicles to electric, install charging stations, and create dedicated lanes for bikers and pedestrians. These initiatives align with the government’s focus on sustainable development and environmental conservation.

Furthermore, the head of the Central Agency For Reconstruction highlighted that the housing project in Zaytuna is designed to accommodate the anticipated increase in population density in Saint Catherine city as a result of its development. The project includes the construction of 21 housing complexes with a total of 546 housing units ranging in size from 100 to 230 square meters. Additionally, the project will feature essential amenities such as a school, mosque, church, and stores to cater to the needs of residents.

Overall, the visit by Prime Minister Madbouly underscored the government’s commitment to urban development and promoting tourism in historic and spiritual sites like Saint Catherine city. The project in Zaytuna represents a significant investment in creating a sustainable and inclusive community that respects the natural surroundings and cultural heritage of the area. With careful planning and coordination between government agencies and stakeholders, the “Great Transfiguration” project is set to transform the region into a premier destination for both local and international visitors seeking a unique blend of spiritual and recreational experiences.
