The New Administrative Capital is gearing up for the Tuesday inauguration ceremony to mark the beginning of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s new presidential term, one of the most significant events in the new capital’s history.
The House of Representatives will host the swearing-in session at its new headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. Khaled Abbas, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Administrative Capital Company for Urban Development, announced in press statements that the ceremony will kick off with the House of Representatives session on Tuesday.
Following the session, President Sisi will take the constitutional oath before the House, visit the memorial monument to lay wreaths, and then raise the Egyptian flag. Abbas further mentioned that after the conclusion of the inauguration ceremony, the presidential headquarters will be relocated to the New Administrative Capital, marking the completion of the transfer of the country’s governance from its previous headquarters.
The inauguration ceremony will also mark the official opening of the first phase of the New Administrative Capital, gaining significant attention as it will be broadcast internationally. According to the Egyptian Constitution, the President is required to take the constitutional oath before assuming his duties.
The constitutional oath must be taken before the House of Representatives, and in circumstances where the House is unavailable, the President may take the oath before the Supreme Constitutional Court. Ehab al-Tamawy, the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Committee of the House of Representatives, clarified that President Sisi will take the constitutional oath before the House members, with the presence of various guests and public figures, preceding a national address by the President.
