Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala al-Saeed, recently unveiled the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 2024/2025, with a target growth rate of 4.2 percent. This plan was approved by the Council of Ministers during a meeting, where Saeed highlighted the six main pillars of the plan.
The first pillar focuses on constitutional entitlements, ensuring that all citizens have access to their basic rights and freedoms. The second pillar, Egypt’s Vision 2030, aims to improve the standard of living for all social groups through quality education, training, and skills development. The third pillar, the National Program for Structural Reforms, seeks to create a more efficient and effective government structure. The fifth pillar, the National Human Rights Strategy, focuses on ensuring that all citizens have equal access to political, economic, social, religious, and cultural rights. Finally, the sixth pillar, the State Ownership Policy Document, aims to promote innovation and create a better future for all citizens.
Saeed emphasized the importance of providing adequate health insurance and achieving justice for all citizens, especially those who are most in need. She stressed the need for creating an enabling environment for innovation, in order to face challenges and take advantage of new opportunities. Saeed also highlighted the importance of crisis management, and the development of scientific scenarios to address potential challenges. By making data and information readily available, the plan aims to ensure that appropriate adaptation options are implemented, meeting the needs of the present while also safeguarding the rights of future generations.
In line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, the plan seeks to enhance resource efficiency, consumption patterns, and sustainable production to create a more sustainable future. By focusing on education, training, and skills development, the plan aims to prepare citizens for future jobs that rely on scientific research and innovation. Additionally, by providing access to quality health insurance and promoting justice, the plan aims to ensure that all citizens have equal opportunities to access public services and achieve their full potential.
