Photopia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Tourism Promotion Authority, and the US Embassy in Cairo, is proud to present the inaugural Alexandria Photo Week from February 1-10. This event will offer a diverse and vibrant array of experiences across seven cultural centers in Alexandria, from ancient treasures at the Graeco-Roman Museum to contemporary galleries at B’sarya for Arts.

Alexandria Photo Week will showcase collaborative and individual artistic expressions from local and international artists in photography and film. The event aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience, with all sessions open to the public for free.

Marwa Abou Leila, the founder and managing director of Photopia, emphasized the inclusivity of the festival, stating that it is open not only to specialized photographers but also to the general public. Through exhibitions, lectures, and educational events, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the art of photography and discover stories through various images.

The festival will bring together a diverse group of local and international photographers and image-makers, offering lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and professional meetings. In addition, over 40 speakers from organizations such as the National Geographic Society and World Press Photo will share their expertise during the festival.

US Embassy Minister Counselor for Public Affairs Ruben Harutunian expressed the embassy’s pride in sponsoring the first-ever Alexandria Photo Week, highlighting the event’s celebration of Egypt’s photographic talent and the city’s cultural significance.

As part of the festival, workshops will cover a wide range of photography topics, including photo-montage, food photography, architectural photography, and photo editing. Additionally, the festival will feature eight group and individual exhibitions, showcasing a variety of photography styles and subjects, including historical photos of Alexandria, fashion photography, and winning press photos.

Attendees can also look forward to captivating exhibitions such as the World Press Photo exhibition and “Sard,” which will feature the work of 47 photographers. These exhibitions will be hosted at various cultural centers, including the French Cultural Center and B’sarya for Arts, offering a unique and immersive experience for all who attend.
