The President of the Egyptian Football Association, Gamal Allam, recently revealed in a televised statement on Tuesday that Mohamed Salah, the star player of Liverpool FC, will be joining the Egyptian national team camp in June once he has fully recovered from his current health issues.
Salah is currently not with the Egyptian national team camp due to his own request, as he feels he is not yet fully prepared to participate. He had recently made a comeback to Liverpool’s matches after being sidelined for about a month due to an injury.
Allam went on to explain that the Pharaohs, the Egyptian national team, have two upcoming matches in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup against Burkina Faso and Guinea Bissau. He emphasized the importance of Salah being completely ready for these matches, as winning them would significantly boost their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
In addition to the World Cup qualifiers, the Egyptian national team is also gearing up to compete in the Egypt Capital Cup tournament, which is part of the FIFA series. Managed by the new coach, Hossam Hassan, the team is set to play their first match in the tournament against New Zealand this Friday.
Currently, the Egyptian national team leads Group A in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, having secured 6 points by winning their first two matches against Djibouti and Sierra Leone.
Allam’s statements reflect the team’s focus on Salah’s complete recovery and readiness for the upcoming matches, acknowledging his importance to the team’s success. The Egyptian national team is determined to continue their winning streak in the qualifiers and secure their spot in the 2026 World Cup. With Salah’s return to the team camp in June, fans are hopeful for a strong performance from both him and the entire team in the upcoming matches.
