The Environment Ministry recently took part in a cycling marathon titled “Clean and Green Cairo with Cycling,” which was organized by the Cairo governorate, Sanofi Egypt, a pharmaceutical company, and the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy. The event saw the participation of Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal, a delegation of high-level officials, the team from the Go Bike initiative, and several other youth initiatives.
Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad praised the event for its contribution to maintaining the environment and combatting the impact of climate change. She emphasized the use of bicycles as an alternative to cars and other polluting means of transportation for short distances. The Ministry of Environment aims to promote the use of bicycles as an alternative to traditional fuel-consuming modes of transport. In line with this objective, it has implemented several bicycle tracks to encourage their use as a means to combat air pollution and reduce the impacts of climate change by decreasing the reliance on cars and rationalizing energy consumption.
