Kuwait made an announcement on Monday that they have resumed issuing work permits for Egyptians, marking a significant change from the decision made 16 months ago by former Interior Minister Talal al-Khaled to halt the issuance of work permits for new Egyptian workers. This decision to resume issuing work permits comes as the Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Acting Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, directed the General Administration of Residency Affairs to work in conjunction with the Public Authority for Manpower and the Kuwaiti Embassy in Cairo to facilitate the process of receiving and approving these permits.
In order for a work permit to be granted, it is a necessary requirement for the worker to undergo a medical examination before their arrival in Kuwait. If the results of the medical examination indicate a positive status for Hepatitis C or any other condition that disqualifies the individual from obtaining the permit and entering Kuwait, then the permit will not be granted.
