The spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu Zeid, expressed strong condemnation of Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s recent inflammatory and irresponsible statements against Egypt. In a report by the Hebrew newspaper “Haaretz”, Smotrich shifted blame to Egypt for events that took place on October 7, alleging that a significant portion of Hamas’s ammunition passes through Egypt and holding Cairo responsible for the events of that day.
Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded to these statements by denouncing them as destructive and intended to disrupt efforts to contain the crisis in the Gaza Strip. He firmly rejected the allegations, emphasizing that Egypt maintains full control over its territory and does not permit any entity to drag it into justifying their shortcomings.
This is not the first time Smotrich has made controversial accusations against Egypt. In December, he accused Egypt of allowing large quantities of ammunition to enter Gaza. In addition to these allegations, the Israeli minister also called on Egypt to allow the residents of Gaza to pass through the Egyptian border in order to emigrate to other countries.
The Egyptian government has vehemently denied these claims and reaffirmed its commitment to the security and stability of its borders. Egypt has long been working to promote peace and stability in the region, and these baseless accusations only serve to undermine these efforts.
It is deeply regrettable that a high-ranking Israeli official would make such unfounded and provocative statements against Egypt. Ahmed Abu Zeid highlighted the inappropriateness of these remarks and stressed that Egypt will not tolerate attempts to tarnish its reputation or involve it in external conflicts.
Egypt’s leadership has consistently emphasized the importance of dialogue and cooperation in addressing the complex challenges facing the region. The country has played a pivotal role in facilitating negotiations and brokering agreements aimed at easing tensions and promoting peaceful resolutions.
By engaging in baseless finger-pointing and false accusations, the Israeli minister’s remarks only serve to hinder progress towards finding sustainable solutions to the longstanding issues in the region. Egypt remains committed to upholding the principles of sovereignty and non-interference, and it will continue to play a constructive role in advancing peace and stability in the Middle East.
In conclusion, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its strong disapproval of the inflammatory and irresponsible statements made by the Israeli Finance Minister and has reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering commitment to maintaining its sovereignty and promoting regional peace and stability. It is imperative for all parties to engage in constructive dialogue and refrain from unfounded accusations in order to achieve lasting peace and prosperity in the Middle East.
