Egypt’s Ambassador to Thailand, Hala Youssef, recently met with Nalinee Taveesin, the Advisor to the Prime Minister and Thailand Trade Representative, to discuss ways to enhance joint economic, trade, and investment relations between the two countries. This meeting comes as Egypt and Thailand celebrate the 70th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 1954.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Thailand, which reached 1.350 billion dollars in 2023. They also discussed ways to facilitate the entry of Egyptian goods into the Thai markets, highlighting the importance of improving trade relations between the two nations.
Ambassador Youssef emphasized Egypt’s efforts to improve the business climate and highlighted key investment opportunities identified by the Egyptian government. These opportunities include investments in food industries, new and renewable energy, electronics, and the localization of automotive industries. Youssef also mentioned the incentives offered by the Egyptian government to both local and foreign investors, highlighting Egypt as an attractive destination for investment.
In response, the Thai official expressed her country’s interest in developing economic relations with Egypt. She noted Egypt’s strategic location and its free trade agreements with several countries, particularly in Africa, as key factors that could benefit bilateral trade between Thailand and Egypt.
