The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, met with his Serbian counterpart, Mihailo Jovanović, on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai, UAE on Tuesday, 13th January 2024. The purpose of their meeting was to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the ICT industry and explore opportunities for knowledge-sharing in the field of digital game development.
According to an official press release by the ICT ministry, the two ministers also delved into the topic of cooperation with a specific focus on digital game development, which is considered an advanced industry in Serbia. Both parties exchanged ideas on how to promote collaboration and identify areas where mutual benefit could be achieved.
During the meeting, Minister Talaat emphasized Egypt’s efforts to improve its competitiveness in cross-border ICT services as part of the Digital Egypt Strategy for the Outsourcing Industry. He also highlighted the various forms of support offered by his ministry to ICT companies, which aim to encourage Serbian companies to establish regional excellence centers in Egypt. These centers, including software development centers, would serve customers in the Middle East, Africa, and the United States.
As a result of their discussions, the ministers agreed on the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote ICT cooperation between Egypt and Serbia. This agreement is expected to pave the way for more concrete and structured collaboration between the two countries in the field of information and communication technology.
The World Government Summit, taking place in Dubai from February 12th to 14th, is the platform for global dialogue and cooperation to shape the future of governments. The 11th edition of the summit, themed “Shaping Future Governments,” will focus on creating a better future for humanity. It will feature six main themes and 15 global forums with over 110 key dialogue and interactive sessions.
More than 200 global figures, including presidents, prime ministers, experts, thinkers, and future makers, are set to participate in the event. The summit will provide a valuable opportunity for leaders and innovators from different countries to share insights, best practices, and innovative solutions in governance and technology.
In conclusion, the meeting between the Egyptian and Serbian ministers at the World Government Summit signifies a commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation in the ICT industry. The signing of the MoU is a significant step towards fostering collaboration and leveraging each country’s strengths in digital technology, ultimately contributing to the advancement of the global ICT sector.
