Egypt is making strides in revolutionizing its healthcare system with the plan to establish an integrated medical city on a vast area of 230 acres on Ain Sokhna Road near the New Administrative Capital. This ambitious project is set to include 18 specialized medical institutes, boasting a clinical capacity of over 4,200 beds. In addition to medical facilities, the city will also house research centers, central laboratories, radiology services, a blood bank, and complementary medical services. Furthermore, there are plans for an integrated residential city for doctors and hotels to attract medical tourism.
The Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, recently met with representatives from The China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) in Egypt, as well as representatives from the income engineering services company, to discuss the establishment of the medical city. During the meeting, Minister Abdel-Ghaffar highlighted President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s keen interest in the project, recognizing it as a significant addition to the country’s health system. The vision for the medical city was also discussed, with the minister commending the efforts put into developing the architectural plan, which reflects a thorough examination of Egypt’s healthcare landscape.
The focus of the project is to create a medical city that integrates all medical specialties in one location, aiming to set a high standard for healthcare facilities in Egypt. Minister Abdel-Ghaffar emphasized the importance of modern planning to ensure the city meets the scientific, research, and medical needs of the population. The medical city is envisioned to serve as a hub for training and scientific research, crucial for enhancing the skills of medical teams and strengthening the overall healthcare system in the country.
The statement released by the Ministry of Health highlighted the significance of providing extensive training for medical teams to ensure they are well-prepared to deliver quality care. The aim is for the medical city to become a benchmark for healthcare facilities in Egypt, setting a precedent for modern, integrated, and research-focused medical facilities. By combining medical treatment, research, and training in one comprehensive complex, the project seeks to raise the standard of healthcare services in the country.
Overall, the establishment of the integrated medical city represents a significant step towards improving healthcare infrastructure in Egypt. With a focus on integration, modern planning, and research, the project aims to elevate the country’s healthcare system and enhance the skills of medical professionals. Through collaboration with international partners and a dedication to excellence, Egypt is paving the way for a brighter and healthier future for its citizens.
