The Egyptian Meteorology Authority (EMA) has issued a warning about a depression that is expected to hit the country on Monday. This weather event will result in a drop in temperatures across most areas, along with varying intensities of rain from the north of the country to Greater Cairo. Additionally, winds will be active in certain areas, increasing the coldness and leading to disruptions in maritime navigation in the Mediterranean Sea.
The EMA’s forecast indicates that cold weather will prevail during the day in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northern coasts, and northern Upper Egypt. Conversely, temperatures are expected to be warmer in South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt. Furthermore, the forecast predicts very cold temperatures at night and in the early morning across most parts of the nation.
In terms of specific temperatures, Cairo, the New Administrative Capital, and Alexandria are expected to reach 16°C, while Minya and Assiut will be at 19°C. Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, and Luxor are forecasted to reach 21°C.
Weather maps have revealed that moderate to heavy rain is expected to fall on areas of the northern coasts and northern Lower Egypt at intermittent intervals. Additionally, there are chances of moderate rainfall in areas of southern Lower Egypt and the Suez Canal cities, with light rain potentially extending to parts of Greater Cairo and central Sinai at intermittent periods.
Satellite imagery has indicated wind activity in areas of Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northern coasts, South Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt at intermittent intervals.
The EMA has also explained that the Mediterranean Sea will be turbulent, with waves ranging from three to four meters high due to northwestern winds.
