The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has issued a warning about the continued cold wave across Egypt, with expectations of ongoing rain on the northern coasts and northern Lower Egypt. Weather maps have revealed the formation of a dense cloud cover accompanied by rainfall in various areas of the Delta, Lower Egypt, the Canal cities, and North Sinai, with some light rain extending to parts of Greater Cairo.

The EMA has also warned of heightened wind activity compounding the cold weather, stating that the cold snap is expected to continue until the end of the week. In Saturday’s weather forecast, it is expected that the daylight hours will be cold in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, and the northern coasts, growing warmer in South Sinai and the south of the country, and very cold at night across most of the country. There will also be frost forming on crops in central Sinai and New Valley Governorate.

Moderate rain is expected to fall on areas of the northeastern coasts, North Sinai, and northern Lower Egypt, while light rainfall is expected on areas of the northwestern coasts, central and southern Lower Egypt, the Suez Canal cities, the Gulf of Suez, and South Sinai intermittently. Weather maps have also revealed wind activity in areas of Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northern coasts, and South Sinai at intermittent intervals.

As for the expected temperatures on Saturday, Cairo and Alexandria are forecasted to be at 19C, Al-Minya at 20C, and Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, and Aswan at 22C. Meanwhile, Shalateen is expected to reach 24C.
