Dia Rashwan, Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS), recently spoke out about the provocations made by members of the right-wing Israeli government against Egypt. He stated that these actions are part of ongoing attempts to divert attention away from the major operation carried out by the Palestinian resistance inside Israel on October 7. Rashwan emphasized that Egypt plays a crucial role in the Palestinian issue and has the means to defend itself.

During a televised phone call to the Kalema Akhera program on ON TV, Rashwan stressed that Egypt is prepared to take strong actions if its national security or the Palestinian cause is threatened. He also pointed out Israel’s attempts to shift blame onto Egypt, including accusations made in the International Court of Justice that Egypt closes the Rafah crossing. Rashwan highlighted the Israeli Finance Minister’s mention of weapons as a way to justify Israel’s occupation of the Philadelphia crossing, describing these actions as part of Israel’s attempts to escape forward from its current turmoil and confusion.

Rashwan drew attention to Israel’s past failures, including its inability to effectively counter the Palestinian resistance, as well as its efforts to prevent the opening of the northern front with Hezbollah. He noted that despite Israel’s military capabilities and external support, it struggled to confront the resistance fighters in Gaza. The chairman of SIS also highlighted the shift in international perception, as Israel, once a symbol of persecuted people, is now facing accusations of carrying out genocide against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.

Regarding Egypt’s response to potential threats to its national security and the Palestinian cause, Rashwan made it clear that the country would not settle for symbolic measures such as withdrawing or expelling ambassadors. He emphasized that the Egyptian leadership and people are united in their stance against Israeli aggression. Rashwan warned Israel that Egypt has a comprehensive set of movements and measures at its disposal and is fully capable of defending its national security and territory.

In conclusion, the Chairman of SIS expressed his bewilderment at Israel’s attempts to intimidate or provoke Egypt, highlighting Egypt’s status as the largest and most capable Arab country in the Middle East. He emphasized that Egypt is prepared to defend itself against any threat and will not hesitate to take decisive actions to protect its national security and the Palestinian cause.
