Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Abbas Helmy recently discussed the role of the civil aviation sector in advancing Egypt’s sustainable development goals for Vision 2030. He made these remarks while participating in the 4th annual conference on sustainable development in Luxor, which focused on “sustainable development in a changing world – tracks towards sustainable future.”
The conference was attended by various ministers, bank presidents, company leaders, and public figures, as well as international and local experts in the field of development. During his speech, Helmy highlighted the strategies adopted by the Civil Aviation Ministry to promote sustainable development. These include expanding green projects, prioritizing decarbonization in the air transport industry to reduce environmental pollution, developing engines that consume less fuel, and using lighter materials in aircraft manufacturing. Additionally, the Ministry aims to implement the use of biofuel and transition Egyptian airports to eco-friendly facilities powered by solar energy, all with the goal of achieving economic and sustainable growth on multiple levels.
Helmy also discussed the international directives and visions guiding the pursuit of sustainable development, emphasizing the importance of aligning these efforts with the development goals outlined in Egypt Vision 2030. By addressing opportunities and challenges, the Ministry aims to create a more sustainable future for Egypt.
This event highlighted the ongoing commitment of Egypt’s civil aviation sector to advancing sustainable development and contributing to the country’s long-term vision for growth and prosperity.
