In a highly anticipated event for football fans, the Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Club, led by Mahmoud al-Khatib, made a historic visit to Zamalek Club after a 15-year hiatus – the last time the Reds Council visited the White Castle was in 2009.

Ahly’s visit to Zamalek strengthened the relationship between the two clubs, as Khatib accepted an invitation from Zamalek Club Chairman Hussein Labib to visit the White Castle located in the Mit Oqba area.

The Zamalek Board of Directors warmly received their counterparts from Al-Ahly as Khatib and his board exchanged greetings with the Zamalek officials, symbolizing a new era of peace between Egypt’s biggest football clubs.

During the visit, Khatib was presented with the shield and flag of Zamalek, and in return, he presented the shield and flag of Al-Ahly club to Labib.

Expressing his gratitude, Khatib thanked the Zamalek board for the invitation, saying, “I extend all my thanks to the Zamalek board for its generous invitation. We are happy to visit the Zamalek Club, as Zamalek is a great sporting castle.”

“The relationship between Ahly and Zamalek is very good, and has deep roots and mutual respect, even if some unusual events occur. Our relationship with Zamalek will remain distinguished and no one’s behavior will harm it,” Khatib emphasized.

He went on to call on the fans of Ahly, Zamalek, and all Egyptian clubs to reject fanaticism and for the competition to remain on the field only. He stressed the importance of placing Egypt’s interest above all else and urged for unity during this crucial time for the country. “Our country at this time needs everyone to come together. Our actions and decisions as officials must help to reject fanaticism,” he concluded.

The visit of Al-Ahly’s Board of Directors to Zamalek Club marked a significant and positive step towards strengthening the relationship between the two clubs and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and unity within Egyptian football. The exchange of shields and flags, as well as the respectful and friendly interactions between the officials, signaled a promising new chapter in the history of these iconic football clubs.
