In anticipation of the 2024 governorship election in Edo State, Mrs. Victoria Amu, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, has announced her decision to withdraw from the governorship race. She expressed her gratitude towards Senator Adams Oshiomole, the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, for his effective management of the APC’s affairs and declared that she will no longer be obtaining the party’s nomination forms.
Mrs. Amu affirmed her commitment to abide by the decisions made by the APC, stating that the party’s resolutions hold greater significance than individual ambitions. She emphasized the importance of upholding the principle of party supremacy and reiterated her alignment with APC’s vision and principles. Mrs. Amu stressed the significance of party unity as the 2024 elections approach and vowed to work collaboratively with party members, leaders, and stakeholders to ensure a strong and united APC in Edo State.
Acknowledging the leadership qualities of Senator Adams Oshiomole, she expressed her eagerness to actively contribute to the success of the party. Mrs. Amu also communicated her willingness to comply with the party’s decision regarding the recent screening process for the Edo 2024 Governorship race, expressing her respect for Senator Oshiomole’s leadership and highlighting the integrity, experience, and commitment of the screening committee led by Professor Julius Ihonvbere.
Additionally, Mrs. Amu announced that despite stepping down from the race and forgoing the purchase of her nomination forms, she remains dedicated to supporting the candidate who emerges as the primary winner. She emphasized her loyalty as a committed party member and assured her continued support for the APC.
