Easter 2024: Evangelical Churches urge Burkinabè to forgive each other for the return of lasting peace
Ouagadougou, March 30, 2024 (Africa Links 24) – The Federation of Evangelical Churches and Missions (FEME) in their Easter message for 2024, urged Burkinabè to repent and forgive each other before weaving together a lasting peace for the country.
The Easter of 2024 is celebrated this year on Sunday, March 31. Easter, which is the celebration of the resurrection of Christ, is at the heart of the Gospel and Christianity. It is because Christ, the Lamb of God, died to atone for our sins, that His sacrifice was pleasing to God, and God raised Him from the dead. “For Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed.”
The commemoration of Easter reminds men that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Peace has always been a pressing issue for all countries, particularly for the land of Honest Men, at a time when the fight against violent extremism is raging. But for peace to be established, and a lasting peace at that, it is important that each of us makes peace; first peace with God through the forgiveness of our sins. It is through Christ the Lamb of God that we have the forgiveness of God. Therefore, as we celebrate this Easter, we ask God to grant us grace by showing us His great mercy.
After being forgiven by God, He will ask us to do the same with our neighbor. “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” This means that at Easter, we have God’s forgiveness, but God in turn requires us to forgive one another. It is under this condition that we can live together in peace, cohesion, and tranquility.
God loves us, that is why He created us in His image and likeness. And when we sinned, He reached out to us by sending Jesus to save us from our sins. He has risen, and He has ascended into heaven. He waits for each of us to come to God in repentance to make peace with God and with all men.
We pray that God will help Burkina Faso to regain its peace and tranquility of the past. May Burkina Faso become a haven of peace where it is good to live. Just as Jesus conquered sin and death, we can trust in Him! He is the Prince of Peace. Only He can sow true peace in the hearts of men.
The time has come for all Burkinabè, both inside and outside the country, to join hands in unity to overcome our differences and build a new Burkina where peace and coexistence reign. This is only possible if each of us turns to the Almighty God.
In this Easter of 2024, The Federation of Evangelical Churches and Missions (FEME) wishes all Burkinabè peace with God through the Lamb of God, reconciliation, and coexistence among all Burkinabè.
Happy Easter 2024 to all! Jesus Christ is risen, He is truly risen!
