AS Maniema Union from the Democratic Republic of Congo has been invited to participate in a football tournament scheduled for May in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, according to the team.

“AS Maniema Union has been invited to the World Peace Championship, scheduled from May 20 to 31, 2024, in Dubai. The invitation arrived this morning,” said Charles Masudi, communication director of Maniema Union.

The competition will feature the participation of professional clubs from Asia, Europe, Africa, and America, and will take place in three stadiums: Al Rashid Stadium (with a capacity of 12,000 seated places), Zabeel Stadium (8,000 places), and Al-Maktoum Stadium (12,000).

“As for the accommodation of the different delegations, the host structure will provide them with four 5-star hotels. These are the Conrad, Hilton, Sheraton Grand Hotel, and JW Marriott Marquis hotels. And the matches of this World Peace Championship will be broadcast live in the Democratic Republic of Congo by broadcasters who have obtained TV rights,” the source added.

Maniema Union, focused on Linafoot

While waiting for May to travel to Dubai, AS Maniema Union now has its sights set on the National Football League Championship (LINAFOOT), where it has been performing exceptionally well. The Kindu team finished the group stage in first place with 43 points, leaving AS V.Club, its closest pursuer, far behind with 33 points.

After a break of about two months following the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations held in Cote d’Ivoire, Linafoot resumes its course next week with the prestigious play-off phase. Maniema Union kicks off against Dauphins Noirs on Friday, March 1st, at Joseph Kabila Stadium in Kindu.

In preparation on-site in Kindu for several weeks, Maniema Union plans a short training camp in Kinshasa immediately after the match against Dauphins Noirs before truly taking on the regulars of this competition. In their schedule, Maniema Union will face Don Bosco on March 9 in Lubumbashi, Mazembe on March 13, Lubumbashi Sport on March 17, and Lupopo on March 21.
