The Kenyan government, often referred to as the hustler government, has released a statement in response to a letter addressing the recent increase in the killing of young women in Kenya. The letter questioned why the government had not issued an official statement condemning the violence and whether there was a need for a protest at State House Nairobi. The government expressed concern about the potential protest and the use of anti-riot police, referencing a previous incident with protesters.

The statement acknowledged the president as the father of the nation, but also highlighted the president’s other responsibilities, including international lenders pressuring him for concessions. The government dismissed claims that they did not want to address the issue of femicide, stating that their current focus is on financial matters in preparation for the 2027 campaigns.

The government emphasized their need for financial support and suggested that those questioning their silence should direct their inquiries to international financial institutions. The statement also acknowledged the silence of State House prayer warriors and warned against questioning their priorities during the ongoing renovations at State House.

The government thanked the prayer warriors for remaining offline and asserted their right to choose how to use public money for prayer. Additionally, the statement expressed solidarity with female MPs who have not spoken out on the issue, blaming their silence on the capture of Parliament by the Executive.

The government also addressed criticism of female leaders, attributing their silence to the constraints imposed by the Executive. It warned against undermining women leaders and suggested that those doing so would eventually be silenced by the government.

Overall, the statement defended the government’s priorities and actions in the face of criticism and urged understanding of their position.
